“Çıraq” Humanitarian and Development Public Union holds final event for Mine Risk Awareness Project
The “Çıraq” Humanitarian and Development Public Union held a concluding event in the Aghdam district dedicated to the project titled “Reducing the Impact of Mines and Unexploded Ordnance in Liberated and Surrounding Districts.”
The project was successfully implemented in partnership with the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Karabakh Revival Fund, and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).
Speaking at the final meeting, project manager Nadir Jafarov provided the participants with detailed information regarding the work carried out and the results achieved. It was noted that the primary objective of the project is to ensure the safety of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have returned to their native lands under the “Great Return” program, and to foster a culture of mine awareness among the population.
Within the framework of the project, activities were conducted in settlements located near the former line of contact that pose a risk—specifically in the city of Aghdam, the villages of Khidirli and Afatli in the Aghdam district, the village of Hajilar in the Aghjabadi district, as well as in the city of Fuzuli. Large-scale mobile awareness-raising meetings and events have been organized for the residents. They were instructed on how to act upon encountering mines or unexploded ordnance, and informational materials containing warnings were distributed to them.
The event concluded with discussions and an assessment of the project's future prospects.
