The third SQL Hackathon was held

On May 9, 2026, the third SQL Hackathon was held. The competition took place at the TechBridge Academy IT center located in Ahmadli. A total of 12 teams participated in the event. The hackathon was organized by SQL.az. The main sponsor of the event was Rabitabank, while media support was provided by Infocity magazine.

Just like “SQL Hackathon 1” and “SQL Hackathon 2,” “SQL Hackathon 3” also attracted great interest. For this reason, the SQL.az team was able to form participant teams within a short period of time. Although many people wanted to participate, only those who passed the screening process were registered. The purpose was to ensure that the participating teams had relatively similar skill levels. Therefore, individuals with extensive experience were not allowed to participate.

The competition started at 10:00 AM on May 9. First, the director of TechBridge Academy, Ms. Chinara, welcomed the participants with an opening speech. Afterwards, PhD Ramin Samedov introduced the participants to the competition rules. In the next speech, PhD Samir Samedov provided information about the history of SQL.az and emphasized that the competition was conducted based on principles of fairness and transparent competition.

The competition consisted of 3 stages and 1 test-question section. One distinctive feature of this year’s event was that the use of AI platforms was prohibited.

The winning team was “The Optimizers,” consisting of Ilkin Gaziyev and Ruslan Orujov.

The second-place team was “Schema Architects,” which included Saida Bayramova and Fariza Mammadova.

Third place was taken by the “QueryX” team. Although they scored the same number of points as the “SQL Hunters” team (Ilaha Mardiyeva and Jale Rahimli), they ranked higher due to faster response times.

The “QueryX” team consisted of Narmin Hagverdiyeva and Togrul Ismayilov.
