Sustainable access to international academic resources for Azerbaijani universities

Today, bp has launched the translation of five more international textbooks into Azerbaijani, bringing the total number of books published by bp to bring the world’s leading academic resources to Azerbaijan to 29.

This project is part of bp’s broader education program to support local universities in strengthening teaching and learning by providing them with access to world-renowned leading academic materials, knowledge and expertise, and is another important step in bp’s long-term commitment to supporting the development of education in the country as a whole.

Speaking at the event to launch the new publications today, bp's Vice President for the Caspian Region Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli said: “With the launch of these five new books, we are concluding one of bp’s most significant educational initiatives in Azerbaijan. Over the years, this project has provided the scientific and educational community with 29 of the most widely used textbooks in the international community. Each of these textbooks has been selected in close collaboration with expert staff from our local universities to meet the real academic needs of our educational institutions. These books are more than just a translation – they are a bridge to global knowledge. By making these high-quality resources available in Azerbaijani, we have worked to support the country’s universities in aligning their teaching and learning processes with international standards. We hope that these books, a gift from bp, will create real value with a lasting and significant impact on students and teachers for generations to come.”

These publications are intended for local universities, libraries and relevant scientific and educational institutions. In addition to the 2,000 printed copies of each textbook, digital versions will soon be available on the online platforms of the local publishing house TEAS PRESS PUBLISHING HOUSE.

The total cost of the textbook publishing project as a whole exceeds 2.14 million AZN (approximately 1.26 million US dollars). This amount covers the costs of all 29 textbooks published over the past nine years, including copyright acquisition, royalties, translation, expert editing, proofreading, design and printing, preparation of the digital version, and project management.
