Azerbaijan hosted another prestigious international event on June 5, World Environment Day. On this occasion, a series of outdoor events were organized at the Heydar Aliyev Center, where various initiatives aimed at environmental protection, promoting a recycling culture, and strengthening social responsibility were presented to the public. Among these initiatives there were the “Card to Art” and “Bring paper - Take a book” (“KAĞIZ GƏTİR–KİTAB APAR”) social and environmental projects, implemented at the initiative of “Təmiz Şəhər” JSC with the support of a number of public and private partners.
As part of the event, artworks created from expired plastic cards collected in special recycling boxes over the past year were showcased. The “Card to Art” social and environmental project demonstrated that these cards, rather than being discarded as waste, can be transformed into something valuable through creativity and art. The handicrafts produced by people with disabilities attracted significant interest from visitors and provided additional opportunities for social inclusion and the display of their creative talents.
The “Bring paper - Take a book” social and environmental project is primarily aimed at fostering recycling habits among schoolchildren. Launched at the Baku European Lyceum on March 18, Global Recycling Day, the project allows students to bring unused paper collected at home and exchange it for new books. The initiative seeks not only to strengthen environmental responsibility among the younger generation but also to encourage reading and contribute to directing paper waste toward recycling.
Both projects embody important values such as environmental responsibility, the efficient use of resources, and social solidarity. Through these initiatives, the organizers aim, on the one hand, to reduce the negative environmental impact of waste and, on the other, to engage different segments of society in meaningful and creative activities.
It should be noted that the “Card to Art” and “Bring paper - Take a book” social-ecological projects were implemented by the “Təmiz Şəhər” JSC with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, the “DOST” Inclusive Development and Creativity Center, Yapı Kredi Bank Azerbaijan, Facility Management Group, Global Media Group, PASHA Property Management, the “Araz Supermarket”, Baku State University, Baku European Lyceum, Sumgait State University, “Nine Senses” Creative Center, the Association of Azerbaijani Publishers, Global Management, Bravo Supermarket, “Smart Waste” LLC, Chapar Printing, Gilavar Photo Club, ECOhub, and the Azerbaijan Journalists Network Public Union.
