Another contribution to a green future from the financial sector and ABA: Towards the goal of 1 million trees

On April 24, another large-scale tree planting campaign was held in Mushfigabad settlement with participation of the country's leading financial institutions.
This initiative is implemented within the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Tree Planting Activities on the Occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev" signed on March 13, 2023 between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Central Bank, Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA), Azerbaijan Insurers Association, Azerbaijan Microfinance Association (AMFA), Azerbaijan Stock Market Participants Association and Azerbaijan Fintech Association (AzFina).
The strategic goal of the memorandum is to contribute to the restoration of ecological balance by planting 1,000,000 trees in total, 100,000 trees per year for 10 years starting from 2023.
The campaign, which has been successfully ongoing for the fourth year, was attended by Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Guler Pashayeva, ABA President Zakir Nuriyev, Chairman of the AMFA Supervisory Board Jalal Aliyev, Executive Director of AzFina Azer Akbarov, as well as leaders of other associations and about 250 representatives of member organizations.
In order to enrich the forest fund and expand green areas in the country, it is planned to plant 37,500 trees of various types suitable for the local climate and build a modern irrigation infrastructure on a 60-hectare area located in Mushfigabad settlement of Absheron region. Within the framework of the campaign, 625 Eldar pine and olive trees were planted by the participants on 1 hectare of land. This event is another manifestation of the high corporate social responsibility demonstrated by the financial sector and ABA in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development.
