Within the framework of "Azerbaijan Volunteering Week 2024", "Eco initiatives" day was implemented
"Azerbaijan Volunteering Week 2024" dedicated to the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" and implemented with the support of the Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the joint organization of the Union of Voluntary Organizations of Azerbaijan (UNVO) will promote the social responsibility, participation in public life and development of the culture of volunteering among the country's youth, as well as continues its activities with 12 directions aimed at increasing solidarity in environmental protection.
One of the directions to which the events and projects held during the "Volunteering Week" are dedicated is the "Eco initiatives" day, which is dedicated to strengthening environmental responsibility among volunteers, solving environmental problems, and increasing the level of environmental awareness in society. Within the framework of this day, the "Volunteers' Eco Challenge", the "Green Saplings" tree planting campaign, and the project "A Day of Volunteers with Stray Animals" aimed at helping and caring for stray animals were implemented by Azerbaijani volunteers. Also, an eco-masterclass on the preparation of animal shelters for street animals was held with the participation of volunteers. It should be noted that within the framework of this day, an eco-masterclass called "One stitch, one volunteer" will be held in order to promote the art of carpet weaving, which is a valuable example of Azerbaijani folk art, and to increase the interest of young people in this field. During this eco-masterclass, each volunteer will throw a loop, and at the end, a carpet symbolizing "Azerbaijan Volunteer Week" will be woven. This initiative is not only an artistic expression of the values of volunteerism, but also a great contribution to our national and cultural heritage.
According to President Ilham Aliyev, "Very large-scale environmental restoration measures are being taken and will be taken." I know that young people, including volunteers, are very active in this field in Azerbaijan. Now, from time to time, tree-planting actions and beach clean-up actions are also shown on television. I welcome them and I am sure that young people will be active in the liberated lands to restore the ecological balance" is also a source of pride.
