With the support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “Tamas” Regional Development Public Union continues to implement the project “Organization of measures to combat domestic violence and human trafficking in regions”. The head of the project, Kubra Alakbarova, reported that two months of the project have already been completed.
During the project implementation period, a total of 83 women and children benefited from a shelter. 4 of them were victims of human trafficking, and 79 were potential victims of human trafficking. Among the potential victims of human trafficking, 35 were women and 44 were children (23 girls, 21 boys). In addition to women and children who remained in the shelter, 125 people applied to the Center directly or through the hotline during the month. Appropriate activities were carried out towards the psychosocial rehabilitation and restoration of social status of victims of violence who applied directly to the shelter or were referred by various organizations. Measures were taken to provide them with initial medical examination, assessment of their psychological and emotional state, and first aid. Women and children provided with safe shelter were provided with food products.
Within the framework of the shelter's activities, the organization attaches special importance to cooperation with local business organizations. Representatives of LU-MUN HOLDING visited the shelter. During the visit, the holding's employees met with women temporarily residing in the shelter, got acquainted with their life stories and the difficulties they face on the spot. Within the framework of the project implemented by the company, legal assistance and legal advice support were provided to women residing in the shelter. Individual and group counseling sessions were organized with lawyers in order to educate women in the areas of personal rights, family and social security. In addition, views were exchanged on women's professional development, educational opportunities and future employment prospects. At the same time, LU-MUN HOLDING donated a tablet to the shelter in order to increase digital skills and promote training processes.
The project is ongoing. The implementation of other planned activities is scheduled for the coming months.
