The "Green Ball" ("Yaşıl Top") social project, organized by AFFA, has been launched.
The national association announced that the project's inaugural event took place at the "Sabis Sun" International School.
As part of the event, a symbolic "Green Ball" made from recycled materials was presented to the school, and educational sessions were held with students regarding environmental protection and sustainable practices. Veteran footballer Qara Qarayev, who attended the event, encouraged the students to contribute to environmental protection and ecological sustainability. Orkhan Jabbarli, press secretary of "Təmiz Şəhər" ("Clean City") OJSC, and Gulnara Mammadova, chief advisor at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, spoke to the students about proper waste management, forest restoration, and sustainable lifestyles.
International-level referees Aliyar Aghayev and Kamal Umudlu, along with assistant referee Sevda Nuriyeva, also met with the students and participated in a tree-planting campaign.
The "Green Ball" social project aims to promote environmental values among children and the football community by leveraging the social impact of football. The project envisages holding events in a total of 10 schools and organizing an inter-school football tournament at the end of the academic year.
