McDonald's Azerbaijan supported a young karate athlete who became a world champion

Stories of young athletes achieving high results on the international stage are increasingly becoming a source of pride.

One such example is 10-year-old Fagan Agajabayov — the son of Ismayil Agajabayov, a reserve captain, veteran of the Patriotic War, and recipient of the medals “Participant of the Patriotic War” and “For Distinction in Military Service.”

At the 16th World Championship in WSF Shotokan held in Istanbul, Fagan won a gold medal.

Fagan is a student at Secondary School No. 2 in the city of Khirdalan and practices karate professionally. Despite his young age, he has already won multiple national and international competitions. His achievements include gold medals from European championships and international tournaments held in Hungary, Turkiye, and Bulgaria.

The athlete earned his latest success at the World Championship in Istanbul. In a highly competitive environment, Fagan won all his matches and was awarded the title of world champion.

Fagan’s participation in the international tournament was supported by McDonald's Azerbaijan — the company covered his travel and competition expenses.

After returning to Baku, a meeting was organized for Fagan at one of the McDonald’s restaurants. The event was attended by Farid Alizadeh, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of McDonald's Azerbaijan; Oskar Bogopolsky, General Director of McDonald's Azerbaijan; and Elnur Mammadov, Head of the Project Management Department of the State Social Protection Fund. They congratulated Fagan on his victory and wished him further success and new achievements.

The support was provided within the framework of a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between McDonald's Azerbaijan and the State Social Protection Fund. The memorandum is aimed at implementing corporate social responsibility projects and supporting children of martyrs and veterans of the Patriotic War.

In recent years, McDonald's Azerbaijan, together with the State Social Protection Fund, has implemented a number of social, educational, and creative initiatives. These include providing school supplies to children of martyrs’ families, supporting educational programs and participation in international olympiads, organizing summer recreation, as well as holding events for children in McDonald’s restaurants.
