Financial literacy training for UNEC students from Expressbank

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance financial literacy and encourage young people to use modern financial services safely, Expressbank held a meeting with students. The bank organized training sessions for students of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) covering topics such as digital banking, cybersecurity, and consumer rights.

During the sessions, students were informed about the key differences between debit and credit cards, factors to consider when choosing card products, digital payment methods—including NFC and QR payments—and the safe use of digital payment solutions like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Additionally, the training highlighted the importance of protecting personal data, avoiding the sharing of sensitive information on social media, regularly updating online account passwords, and exercising caution when using public Wi-Fi networks.

Another focus of the training was cybersecurity. Students were informed about various forms of phishing, online fraud and scamming techniques, as well as practical protective measures to guard against these risks.

Regarding consumer rights, the session covered key points to consider when entering into banking contracts, the nature of the Standard Information Form, and the importance of the customer carefully reading this document before signing. Information was also provided on the importance of contacting the financial institution first in the event of any grievance or issue, as well as the procedures for appealing to the Central Bank or the courts.

The training sessions were conducted by professional trainers from Expressbank: Tofiq Mehdiyev, Head of the Economic Security Department, and Alvina Aliyeva, Head of the Consumer Rights Protection Department.

As a responsible financial institution, Expressbank considers raising the public's financial literacy to be a key component of its social responsibility strategy. The bank places special emphasis on properly informing young people about financial products and services, promoting the safe use of digital financial tools, and raising awareness of consumer rights. It is planned that awareness-raising initiatives in this area will continue in the future.
