Another training program on "Responsible Ecotourism Guiding" has been organized at the initiative of IDEA
Training sessions have been organized for tour operators and ecotourism guides operating in accordance with principles of environmentally responsible tourism, through the initiative of the IDEA Public Union and the joint cooperation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, and the Azerbaijan Tour Guides Association.
The three-day training program aims to support the development of ecotourism in the country and to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of guides working in national parks and other specially protected natural areas.
Developed based on the methodological recommendations of IDEA’s environmental experts, the training program covered various topics, including the application of eco-friendly practices and responsible tourism guidelines, nature conservation, biodiversity protection, fostering cooperation among relevant tourism sector entities, and further raising tourists' awareness of environmental responsibility.
Certificates were awarded to 28 participants who successfully completed the training program—organized for the second time—and the subsequent knowledge assessment phase. The projects implemented at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva—Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union—are of exceptional importance in establishing sustainable mechanisms to address environmental challenges at both local and international levels. The measures taken by IDEA regarding environmental protection, the enrichment of biodiversity, the expansion of green spaces, and the fight against climate change—particularly the projects aimed at preserving biodiversity in the Caspian Sea and across the country—are consistent in nature. These initiatives serve to foster a responsible attitude toward the environment through the ecological education of society, especially the younger generation, and to ensure the preservation of the ecosystem for future generations.
