The first stage of the "Green Note" project, which was launched in April of this year, within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in secondary school No. 158 in Baku, with the support of the Ministry of Energy, was completed.
The ministry told that within the project, about 2 tons of paper were collected for recycling by school students and staff.
The purpose of the project is to contribute to environmental protection and formation of environmental culture among students by recycling notebooks and other paper products used in school.
Director of school No. 158, Mehriban Alakbarova, noted that the project has an important role in terms of saving resources, reducing waste and promoting environmental values among schoolchildren, and assessed this initiative as an important step towards enriching education not only with academic knowledge, but also with social responsibility.
Kamila Jafarli, the idea author and leader of the project, 11th grade student, said that 2 tons of paper waste collected within the project was diverted for recycling, thus cutting down dozens of trees was prevented, hundreds of thousands of liters of water and thousands of kilowatt-hours of energy were saved. Confidence was expressed that the "Green Note" project will be an example for a sustainable green future for all sections of society, and it was stated that the project will be continued.
It should be noted that within the framework of the "Green Note" project, thanks to the 12 collection boxes installed in the school where more than 3 thousand students study, an important contribution was made to reducing waste and minimizing damage to the environment. The successful results of the project lay the groundwork for its application in other educational institutions in the future.
